  • New 7-Day feature on the way
  • Will be rolled out this month
  • Options available to enable the

Facebook’s WhatsApp, messaging platform used by over 2 billion people worldwide will be introducing a new feature this month. It means that messages will disappear after 7 days.

The option that can be enabled works on both one-to-one chats as well as groups. The group admin has the ability to turn on or off the feature.

WhatsApp say:

“We’re starting with 7 days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent, while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about,”.

This could be real space saver for those too often going through conversations deleting them to save  memory on their phone. WhatsApp have  recognise people going through conversations that were designed not to be permanent and are having to delete them. This will be a real space and time saver!

Users still have the ability to take screenshots and the functionality where photos are directly saved onto the phone, so, even though the messages may have been deleted; automatically saved pictures and videos may still  exist on screenshots and within the photos app.

The will be rolled out this month, and within be available in the contacts section; where you will have the option to enable messages to be deleted.

This is a useful feature, but for those of us who often send family/friends pictures that have sentimental importance, it might be worth considering if you want to enable the feature.
